Vanuatu's capital, Port Vila, and surrounding areas were hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 on 17 December 2024. Several aftershocks followed.
As a result of this earthquake, there is large-scale damage to buildings and roads and landslides took place. Essential services, including telephone and internet connections, have been interrupted. Transport services, including flights, have also been disrupted. Please contact your airline for further information if you have a flight scheduled.
We recommend that you follow the instructions of the local authorities and monitor the local media for updates.
